Cursor 1.0 ships with a rewritten agent engine
After three years as a VS Code fork, Cursor hits 1.0 with the most ambitious agent rewrite of the year.
Cursor shipped its 1.0 release this week, centered on a complete rewrite of the composer agent. New features include a persistent background agent, native MCP support, and a "rewind" feature that can restore any past agent state.
Pricing didn’t change — $20 Pro, $40 Business. What did change: composer can now kick off work asynchronously, you can resume an agent thread from any point in its history, and every frontier model is selectable (including DeepSeek V4 and Gemini 2.5 Ultra) via a unified model picker.
